God's Table

The Bible gives more than a diet

And that is good news. It gives you something better than a meal plan.

← Bible & Health

Scripture gives something deeper than portion sizes: a way of living in which food finds its proper place under gratitude, self-control, love and worship.

What Scripture does give

Biblical principle
  • Thanksgiving: food is received, not merely consumed (1 Timothy 4:4-5).
  • Self-control: appetite is not the master (1 Corinthians 6:12).
  • Stewardship: the body belongs to God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
  • Freedom with love: do not despise or judge each other over food (Romans 14:3).

Why food obsession fails

  • Romans 14:17 says the kingdom of God is not meat and drink.
  • A person can eat perfectly and still be proud, anxious and unkind.
  • Scripture aims at the heart, and the heart then reshapes the table.
