God's Table

5 min

Gratitude at the table

The smallest habit with the largest effect on how you eat.

← Bible & Health

1 Timothy 4:4-5 says food is received with thanksgiving. That single act changes eating from consumption to reception.

Why it matters

Biblical principle
  • Gratitude slows you down.
  • Gratitude remembers the giver, the farmer, the cook.
  • Ecclesiastes 3:13 calls eating and enjoying labour a gift of God.

Draw a verse from the library and walk it through the three questions. A new one appears every time you click.

What Scripture says

  • Food is to be received with thanksgiving.

What Scripture does NOT say

  • No particular words or posture are prescribed for a meal prayer.

Questions to reflect on

  • Whose work made today's food possible?

A suggested prayer

“Father, thank You for providing this food. Give me wisdom, gratitude and self-control.”

A suggested prayer, not a Scripture quotation.
