Where it appears in Scripture
The land is described as flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8). 1 Corinthians 3:2 and Hebrews 5:12 use milk as a metaphor.
What Scripture says
- Milk is a sign of a good land and of God's provision.
- Spiritually, milk stands for the beginning of understanding.
What Scripture does NOT say
- Scripture makes no claim about lactose, bone density or dairy quantity.
New Testament context
Paul and Hebrews use milk as a metaphor for elementary teaching. Peter speaks of desiring the sincere milk of the word. The image concerns spiritual growth, not dairy consumption.
Common misconceptions
- "A land of milk and honey proves dairy is required for health." The phrase describes abundance.
